various functions provided by the NC EDM fast wire cutting machine tool can be realized through the machine tool operation panel, including the control panel, the manual control box panel and the wire storage cylinder operation panel

I. control panel

the control panel is the main human-machine interactive interface to complete machine tool operation and wire cutting processing, and its common functional components are listed in Table 1

II. The panel of the manual control box

is used to manually control the machine tool for basic operations such as axis movement, wire conveying, and starting the working fluid pump when no program is executed. See Table 2 for the layout of a common panel key and the functions of each key

I. selection of electrode wire

electrode wire is an essential and important tool in the process of wire cutting. Reasonable selection of electrode wire material, diameter and uniformity is an important link to ensure the stable processing

the electrode wire material should have good conductivity, large tensile strength and good electrical corrosion resistance, and the electrode wire should have uniform quality, good linearity, no bending and knotting, which is convenient for threading. The electrode wires used in fast wire cutting machine tools are mainly molybdenum wires and tungsten molybdenum alloy wires, especially molybdenum wires, which have high tensile strength, good toughness and are not easy to break, so they are widely used; Tungsten molybdenum alloy wire has better processing effect than molybdenum wire, but its tensile strength is poor and its price is expensive. It is only used in special cases

the diameter range of electrode wire varies with its material. Generally, molybdenum wire is Φ 0.06~0 . 25mm, tungsten molybdenum alloy wire is Φ 0.03~0 . 35mm 。 The small diameter of the electrode wire is conducive to the processing of narrow seams and sharp corners, but the wire diameter is too thin, and the thickness of the workpiece that can be processed will also be limited. Therefore, the diameter of electrode wire should be determined according to the requirements of slit width, workpiece thickness and concave corner size. It is generally used in WEDM Φ 0.12~0 . 20mm 。

II. Installation of electrode wire

installation of electrode wire is generally divided into two steps: winding wire first, and then threading wire

1. Wire winding

as shown in Figure 1, it is controlled by manipulating the operation panel of the wire storage cylinder

the specific steps are as follows:

(1) wrap the electrode wire on the purchased wire disc on the wire storage cylinder

(2) move the wire storage cylinder to one end of its stroke, lead the electrode wire to the screw at the end of the wire storage cylinder through the wire guide wheel and press it tightly

(3) turn on the start and stop switch of the wire tensioning motor, rotate the wire tensioning voltage adjustment knob, and adjust the reading of the voltmeter until the electrode wire is tensioned and the tension is appropriate

(4) rotate the wire storage cylinder so that the electrode wire is gradually and evenly wound on the wire storage cylinder with a certain tension

(5) physical foaming method when the wire storage cylinder moves to the other end of its stroke: with the help of the change of the physical state of the foaming agent in the resin, turn off the start and stop switch of the wire tensioning motor, cut the electrode wire from the wire disc and fix the wire head

2. Threading

the threading route is shown in Figure 2

the specific steps are as follows:

(1) remove the weight fixed on the swing rod from the fixed pulley, push the swing rod to move horizontally to the right along the ram, insert the positioning pin to temporarily fix the position of the swing rod, and then fix the positions of the upper and lower tensioning wheels installed at both ends of the swing rod

(2) the cutting end of the traction electrode wire passes through each transition wheel, tensioning wheel, main guide wheel, conductive block, etc. in turn, and the screw of the wire storage cylinder is used to compress and cut off the excess wire head

(3) take down the locating pin and hang back the heavy hammer. Under its gravity, the swing rod drives the upper and lower tensioning wheels to move to the left, and the electrode wire will be automatically tensioned with a certain tension

(4) move the wire storage cylinder to the middle position, and adjust its travel by using the left and right travel bumps until there are still several rounds of electrode wires at both ends

(5) use the wire transport switch on the operation panel of the wire storage cylinder to operate the wire storage cylinder mechanically to automatically move forward and backward, and move back and forth twice to make the tension uniform

III. adjustment of z-axis stroke

1. Loosen the z-axis locking handle

2. Shake the z-axis lifting hand wheel according to the thickness of the workpiece, so that the workpiece is roughly in the middle of the upper and lower leading wheels

3. Lock the handle

IV. electrode wire vertical correction

on wire cutting machine tools with u and V axes, the perpendicularity of electrode wire to the coordinate workbench surface needs to be readjusted after the electrode wire runs for a period of time, re threading or before processing new workpiece. When correcting, use a long square whose planes are parallel or perpendicular to each other, which is called the corrector, as shown in Figure 3 at present

the specific steps are as follows:

1. Wipe the surfaces of the worktable and the corrector, select two adjacent sides perpendicular to the bottom of the corrector as the reference plane, and select the position to place the two sides in parallel along the X and Y coordinate axes

2. Select the weak discharge function of the machine tool, so that the pulse voltage is applied between the electrode wire and the corrector to operate the electrode wire

3. Move the x-axis to make the electrode wire close to one of the correctors
